What is a member of the Coalition?

A person who:

  • Recognizes and defends sexual inequalities
  • Wishes to help improve the living conditions of lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Abitibi-Temiscamingue (LGBT)
  • Supports and engages in the orientation of the Coalition
  • Adheres to the values of inclusion, liberty, expression, solidarity, equality, respect for dignity and respect for fundamental human rights

The different types of members

Any professional in the healthcare system, social services, education or working with community organization working with LGBT people and their families who want to show their openness to embrace and support them. The Allied Member can refer a person who needs help to the appropriate resources. Concerned with the improvement of living conditions and respect of the rights of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgenders in Abitibi-Temiscamingue, she or he will not hesitate to transmit to the Coalition the injustices related to the realities of those persons, of which she or he could be a witness.

Eligibility conditions

  • Being a resident of the territory.
  • Being a professional in the healthcare system, social services, education or working with community organization and to uphold the values of the Coalition.
  • Having completed the registration form.
  • Having signed a letter of commitment and submit it to the Administrative board.
  • Knowing the mission of the Coalition and the existing resources in the community.
  • Being able to intervene when witnessing discrimination, prejudices, insults, harassment or any other form of violence. Being able to refer a person who needs help to the appropriate resources.
  • Participate in the meetings of the collective.
  • Participate in knowledge maintenance workshops.

When an Allied member is absent of three meetings of the collective consecutively without notice, a reminder will be sent to him.

The Allied member agrees to attend an annual knowledge workshop. In the case he cannot participate during the year, he must make an agreement with the Coalition to maintain his status.

Person sensitive to the difficulties faced by Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgenders in Abitibi-Temiscamingue. This member is personally involved in the completion of the various projects of the Coalition. This member can refer a person who needs help to the appropriate resources. Concerned with the improvement of living conditions and respect of the rights of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgenders in Abitibi-Temiscamingue, she or he will not hesitate to transmit to the Coalition the injustices related to the realities of those persons, of which she or he could be a witness.

Organizations or companies of Abitibi-Temiscamingue wishing to show their openness to sexual diversity and create an environment free of homophobia and transphobia for both their clientele and their employees. In order to be recognized as a Partner member, the organization or the company must obtain a certification issued by the Coalition. This certification is intended to express the commitment of the Partner member to create an environment free from homophobia. For that purpose, the employees and direction must participate in a training workshop. The renewal of the certification is made in the time agreed by the Coalition with the Partner member and is conditional on the participation in an update workshop.

People from the LGBT community of Abitibi-Temiscamingue responsible for holding socialization activities within their RCM. The Coalition provides financial and logistical support for these activities, while meeting the financial commitments of the organization. This member is a good ambassador of the Coalition, he or she can refer a person who needs help to the appropriate resources. Concerned with the improvement of living conditions and respect of the rights of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgenders in Abitibi-Temiscamingue, she or he will not hesitate to transmit to the Coalition the injustices related to the realities of those persons, of which she or he could be a witness.

  • Is committed for holding socialization activities within their RCM.
  • Is committed to provide an assessment on the realized activities with the supporting documentation.
